What was your most memorable moment?
Seeing a curious young male polar bear come across the sea ice to check out our small ship… Spotting us, he came across the ice, sliding down ridges, rolling over, sniffing the air at our scent, until he checked us out. Amazing! He them a baked off to hunt, having dufficuktung climbing out of the water into the ice, at some points.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Yes, all were well-planned and excellent. Felt totally safe at all times. A very quick response when the weather turned unexpectedly during a landing.
Tell us about the expedition team
Every single person was very experienced, gave excellent talks. Christophe, the Team Leader, was outstanding, creative in responding to the conditions.
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
An excellent ship, very well-designed. We have been on a number of small ships. This was absolutely the best-considered design. Many often have the bed right next to the windows/balcony. Why?! Makes much more sense to have the couch near the window. Bathroom was good size, well laid out. The heated floor was wonderful helped in drying out hand-washed things. Food was very good. Pleased to see that uneaten food was repurposed in new offerings (e.g. left-over rice used in rice pudding). The only negative was that the dining room was very noisy. Replace round tables with rectangular tables for six or eight so people can talk without loud vices across the table... We would absolutely choose the ship again.

This was one of our most expensive vacations, but well worth it.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to The Arctic?
Pay special attention to layering. Be flexible in terms of your expectations. Weather rules!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes, the Arctic is a very special, vulnerable place. We must assure that it, and its wildlife, is respected and protected.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Uploading stuff to the Adventure Planner was difficult at times. Other Swoop clients said the same thing. This needs to be addressed.
